Obituary of John Joseph Petrosky

West Newton, John Joseph Petrosky, age 62 of West Newton PA, died Monday (08/02/10) in the Excela Heath- Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Petrosky was born April 7, 1948 in Frostburg, MD, the son of the late Joseph Petrosky. He was a member of Seven Dolors Roman Catholic Church. John was a 1967 graduate of Geibel High School and a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the United States Navy. He was employed as a Supervisor by SuperValue since 1988. John was an avid golfer and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending his time with his grandsons, who were the loves of his life. He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 42 years, Iris J. Blanda Petrosky, his grandsons; Nicholas and Zachary Petrosky, and by his daughter-in-law, Tricia Petrosky. John is also survived by his aunts; Kathryn Vise and her husband William, and Patricia McHugh and her husband Michael, and by his nephew and niece; Christian and Karah Vise. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by his son, Joel Christopher Petrosky in 2001. Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9:30AM followed by his funeral mass at 10:00AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held on Thursday at 3PM in the funeral home.
