Obituary of Richard Francis Pohl, Esquire
Richard (Dick) Francis Pohl, Esquire, of Donegal, PA, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, August 17,2016. Mr. Pohl was born December 11,1940 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Frank and Alice McGriskin Pohl. He was a member of Saint Raymond of the Mountains Roman Catholic Church, Donegal, PA, and a former longtime member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Mount Pleasant. Dick was a graduate of Xavier University, the University of Richmond, and the TC Williams School of Law. He had been a proud member of the US Coast Guard Reserves. Dick practiced law until his formal retirement in 2002. One of his proudest achievements had been serving as a Juvenile Master of Westmoreland County for over 18 years. He had been recognized by the Pennsylvania Bar Association for his many hours of Pro Bono work, including his efforts which resulted in the continued operation of the Donegal Elementary School. Dick had also been instrumental in the development of the Mount Pleasant Midget Football League, where he devoted over 20 years to the program. He also coached Little league baseball and Midget football. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends, however his most favorite times were those spent with his family. Dick found great strength and comfort in his Catholic Faith. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tish Wilmes Pohl, his children; Carol, Nancy and her dear companion Barry Jones, Patrick and Alyson, his grandchildren; Mitch and Nikki Johnston Pohl, Jake, Alex, Abbie and McCourt, and his great grandson Ethan. Dick is also survived by his brother and sisters; Marialice and Nevin Harwood, Mike and MaryJo Pohl and Constance and Herb Stiles, his 23 nieces and nephews, and his extended family; Amy, Billy, Lauren and Lindsey Matthews.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother , Stan Pohl.
Family and friends are invited to attend Dick's Funeral Mass on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Saint Raymond of the Mountains RC Church, 164 School House Lane, Donegal, PA. 15628. There will be a reception immediately following at the Greensburg Country Club from 12-2 PM.
