Obituary of Russell William Holmberg

Russell William Holmberg, age 67 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Thursday November 24, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Holmberg was born November 25, 1948 in Williamsport, PA, the son of the late Paul and Bessie Guantner Holmberg. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Russ was a 1966 graduate of Gallitzin High School. He retired as a Tool and Die Maker for General Motors Corporation, Dravosburg Plant. Russ was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was very artistic with wood carving, and enjoyed flea marketing. His most enjoyable times however ,were spent with his family and cheering for his grandchildren at their sporting events. Russ is survived by his loving family: his devoted wife of 48 years, Philena May Letcher Holmberg, his son, Robert A. Holmberg and his wife Deidre of Greensburg, his daughter in law, Jennifer Huchko Holmberg of Forrest Lake, NC, and by his beloved grandchildren, Madeline, Torianne, Gabrielle, and Gunnar Holmberg. He is also survived by his brother and sisters; Raymond Holmberg of Coudersport, Jeanne Fry of Williamsport, and Cathy Shirk (William) of East End. In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his son, Sean M. Holmberg in 2009. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 4 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Monday at 9:30 AM in the funeral home , followed by Russ's Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J.
