Obituary of Donald R. Robinson

 Donald R. Robinson, age 95 of Mt. Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in the Weatherwood Manor, Greensburg, PA

Mr. Robinson was born February 26, 1922 in Altoona, PA, the son of the late Thomas and  Mildred Rice Robinson. He was a member of the Reunion Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant.  He was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School, and had attended Penn State. Don was a proud veteran of WWII who served  in the United States Air Force as a Pilot. Don, along with his wife Rosemary owned and operated the Ghantous Store in Mt. Pleasant for many years. He had been an active member of the Mt. Pleasant Rotary, and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was on several committees at his Church and served on the Session. Don was also a member of the American Legion Post 446, and  of the Mt Pleasant Historical Society. He loved playing the piano, and did so religiously every night after dinner. He was an avid Penn State Football fan and also enjoyed watching the Steelers. He and Rosemary loved to travel, and had taken many cruises to Europe, Aruba, Barbados and many other of the Islands. A kind and quiet individual, Don was a true gentleman.

He is survived by his loving family: his daughter, Karen Robinson of Williamsville NY, his granddaughter, Shanna Robinson, and his great grandson, Jace Robinson. Don is also survived by his nephew John O’Brien of Altoona. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Ghantous Robinson in 1998, and by his sister, Marjorie O’Brien.

Family and friends will be received Sunday from 1 until 3PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant . Funeral services for Don will be held immediately following at 3PM, with his Pastor, Susan Washburn officiating
