Obituary of Paul Simon Kostyo
Mount Pleasant, Paul Simon Kostyo, age 78 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Tuesday (05/3/11) in Excela Heath- Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg, PA.
Mr. Kostyo was born August 15, 1932 in United, the son of the late Andrew and Julia Spisak Kostyo. Mr. Kostyo was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. He was a 1951 graduate of the former Hurst High School. Paul was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Army. He retired after 18 years of service from the Westinghouse Corporation of East Pittsburgh as a Machinist, and then began his second career as a Greeter at the Hempfield Wal-Mart, which he truly loved and enjoyed for over 15 years. Paul was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3368 of Mt. Pleasant. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, whose life was spent loving and caring for his family. He and his wife Patty loved to travel, and he especially enjoyed their trips to Las Vegas and their time spent at the casinos.
Paul is survived by his loving family, his wife, Patricia B. O'Barto Kostyo, with whom he would have celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary on May 4, 2011, his children; Kimberly Laick and her husband Terrance of United, Kathleen Clark and her husband Donald of Connellsville, Carol Kostyo of Mt. Pleasant, Paul S. Kostyo, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, and James A. Kostyo and his wife Tammy of Scottdale. He will be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren whom he was extremely proud of; Jennifer Hodge and her huband Lee, Rachel and Renee Clark, and James and Michael Kostyo. He is also survived by his sisters; Irene Kurpiel, Yulada Kaminsky Sabo, and Veronica Kubasky and her husband Stephen, all of Mt. Pleasant, and by his sister-in-law, Janet Kostyo of Florida, and his brother-in-law William Sebek of Mt. Pleasant, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Andrew Kostyo, and by his sister, Mary Sebek.
Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant.
A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Saturday, May 7 at 9:30AM followed by Paul's Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Pius X R.C. Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant.
Private Interment will be in the Forty Martyrs Cemetery, Trauger. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Friday @3PM.
