Obituary of Frederick Eugene Hood

Frederick E. “Fred” Hood, age 81 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Wednesday (10/20/2021) in the Excela-Health Latrobe Hospital Latrobe, PA. Mr. Hood was born July 3, 1940 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Frederick and Virginia Ulery Hood. Mr. Hood was a member of Fairview Church of God. Fred was a graduate of the former Hurst High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement in 1988, he was employed as a Supervisor at Modulus. You could always find him working in his yard which he enjoyed. He loved working puzzles in his spare time also, however; time spent with his family was always treasured. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Carole Shaffer Hood, sons Craig E. Hood of Scottdale, Chad F. Hood of Yukon and his daughter Cheryl L. Hall of Mount Pleasant. Frederick is also survived by his brother James (Margaret) Hood of Mt. Pleasant, sisters Nancy (Roger) Shaulis of Stahlstown and Darlene Hood of Ohio. His beloved grandchildren, Tori Pritts and Tyler Hall, and great grandchildren Aria and Teagan. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his daughter Christina Lee Polanofsky in 2006. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 25th at 1:00 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating.
