Obituary of Andrew W. Harenchar

Andrew "Pagach" W. Harenchar, age 92 of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, November 21, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Harenchar was born September 5, 1929 in Hecla, a son of the late Paul A. and Mary Sikora Harenchar Sr. He was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. Andy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Era. He was an avid sports fan who especially loved the Pittsburgh Pirates. Andy was a history buff most interested in learning about all of the wars. He also had a passion for gardening. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Fireman's Club, the Hecla Sportsmen's Club and the Polish Falcons of Mt. Pleasant. Andy is survived by his loving family: his wife of 65 years, Margaritte Ricotta Harenchar, his children, Anita (James) Forsythe and Paul (Kristin) Harenchar Sr., his son in law, David Michalsky and by his beloved grandchildren, Taylor Forsythe, Andrew Michalsky, Michael Forsythe, Kelsie Harenchar, and Paul Harenchar Jr. He is also survived by his god-daughter, Christina Tomasic and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by his daughter, Beth Michalsky, his brothers, Paul, Edward, and Michael Harenchar and by his sister, Elizabeth DiRado. Family and friends will be received Friday, November 26th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by his funeral mass at 11:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church. Interment will follow with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery.
