Obituary of Donald P. Gorton

Donald P. Gorton Jr., age 88 of Norvelt, died November 30, 2021, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Gorton was born August 19, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Donald P. and Eva Miller Gorton Sr. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Don was a 1952 graduate of Hurst High School. He was an avid outdoors man and loved animals, especially his beloved pets. His most favorite times however, were those spent with his late wife, Dolores and his family. Don is survived by his loving family: his brothers and sisters; Samuel Gorton and his wife Mary Lou, Eileen Sterba, Nancy White and her husband Brooks, and John Gorton and his wife Debbie. He will also be greatly missed by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Switalski Gorton in 2019 and by his brother-in-law, Ed Sterba. Family and friends will be received Friday, December 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by Don's Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X RC Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Pius X RC Church in memory of Donald P.
