Obituary of Bruce A. Leaf

Bruce A. Leaf passed away on November 30, 2021, peacefully at home in Ormand Beach, FL. He was born in Mt Vernon, NY, on April 23, 1940. Son of the late Irving and Jeanette (Friedman)) Leaf. Bruce was a graduate of Peter’s Township High School and California State College; he also received his master’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Bruce started his teaching career at Hempfield Area School District and moved on to Ligonier Valley School District as a guidance counselor, where he spent 35 years before retiring. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy (Farrell) Leaf, his children, Jeffrey (Denise), Donald (Ann), and his grandchildren, Ryan, Morgan, Lucia, and Michael. He is also survived by his sister Karen (Robert) Schwartz, his nephew Eric (Rachel) Schwartz, and his niece Lauren Schwartz Ryman. Bruce was well known for his love of sports; he coached teams in the Mt. Pleasant Little League and Pony Leagues and High School Girls Softball in Ligonier Valley. You could also find Bruce on the sidelines cheering on his sons during their many sporting activities. He never missed a game or a wrestling match. Bruce also served as the Mt. Pleasant Little League president and was an umpire for girls’ softball. During the summer months, you could find Bruce on the golf course every weekend. Upon retirement, golf wasn't his only passion, he learned to enjoy surf fishing in the Atlantic Ocean when visiting Florida. Bruce never missed watching the Steelers or Pirates and always enjoyed a friendly wager now and then. A celebration of life will be held at Galone Caruso Funeral home on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, between 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Private inurnment will be held at Middle Presbyterian Cemetery.
