Obituary of Joseph Anthony Testa

Mount Pleasant, Joseph Anthony Testa, age 90 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Saturday (05/21/11) in Excela Health- Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Testa was born November 11, 1920 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Anthony and Michaelena Fasano Testa. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Joe was a 1938 graduate of the former Ramsay High School. He was a proud veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Army Company A, 379th Infantry, and a recipient of two Bronze Stars, the WWII Victory Medal, and a Purple Heart. Mr. Testa retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass as a Quality Control Technician in 1981.Joe was an avid golfer; a Charter member and the oldest member of the Norvelt Golf Club, having won the Club Championship in 1971. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3368, the American Legion Post 446, the Mt. Pleasant Fireman's Club and the Assunta Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Joe was bigger than life. He is survived by his loving family: his children; Sherry Ogrodnik and her husband Ronald of Sarasota, FL, Richard M. Testa and his wife Cheryl of Cross Hill, SC, and Lori Suchocki and her husband Eric of Scottdale; His grandchildren; Kristi Hartland Swartz and her husband Dustin, Georgeanne Testa Queer and her husband James, Erika Wolfe Levander and her husband Gregory, Miki Testa Shodd and her husband Edward, Danielle Testa Shaffer, Ryan Ogrodnik, McKenzie Ogrodnik and Nicholas Zur and his wife Amanda. He will also be greatly missed by his Great Grandchildren; Brittany, Kayla, J.P., Brady Joseph, Ethan, Noah, Rachel, Josh, Ella, Riley and Maya. Joe is also survived by his sisters and brother; Florence Potoka and her husband William, Jennie Snyder and Frank Testa, all of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Louise Sopko Testa in 1999, his son, Joseph "Butchie" Testa in 1955, his brother Martin in 1998 and by his sister Mary Kundrick in 1994. As per the wishes of Mr. Testa, there will be no hours of public visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church on Saturday May 28, 2011 @12-Noon with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery with Full Military Rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 and the V.F.W. Post 3368 of Mt. Pleasant. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Testa's family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to The American Cancer Society, 863 Georges Station Road, Greensburg, PA 15601, or The Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 3544 North Progress Ave. Harrisburg, PA 17110-9638 in Memory of Joseph A.
