Obituary of Joan M. Evon

Joan M. (Syrko) Evon , age 79 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Friday, February 25, 2022, in the comfort of her home. Mrs. Evon was born August 11, 1942 in Charleroi, PA, the daughter of the late Paul and Margaret Bretcko Syrko. She was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant. Joan was a 1960 graduate of the former Donora High School. She enjoyed caring for her family and especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren. Joan is survived by her loving family: her children; Christine Giallonardo (Carmen) of Mt. Pleasant, Sharon Evon (Jeff) of Canonsburg and Kenneth Evon (Jessica) of Mt. Pleasant and by her three grandchildren, Alexis Evon, Dante Giallonardo and Gabriella Evon. She is also survived by her brother and sister; Kenneth Syrko of Monroeville and Joyce Gade of Greensburg. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert E. Evon in 1998, her grandson, Dominic Giallonardo in 2020 and by her brother, Paul Bernard Syrko. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, from 10 AM to 12:30PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held at 12:30 PM in the funeral home followed by Joan’s Funeral Mass at 1:00 PM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church.
