Obituary of Mary Ellen Gerecter

Mary Ellen (Forejt) Gerecter, age 71 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Friday, April 8, 2022 at Excela Health-Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Mrs. Gerecter was born May 4, 1950 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late William E. and Elizabeth Shibilski Forejt. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church and it’s Christian Mothers. Mary Ellen was a graduate of Geibel Catholic High School. Before her retirement she had been employed at the Hallmark Store. Mary Ellen was a true animal lover. She was a compassionate person with a huge heart and showed kindness to everyone she met. She is survived by her loving family: her sister, Kathleen Bash and her husband Paul of Mount Pleasant and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Richard A. “Beans” Gerecter in 2004, and by her sisters, Carol Neiderhiser and Anne Forejt. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 10:30 AM, followed by Mary Ellen’s Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X RC Church.
