Obituary of Margaret R Detling

Margaret R. “Peggy” (Biller) Detling, age 83 of Mount Pleasant  died Friday, August 12, 2022 in UPMC-Montefiore Hospital,  Pittsburgh, PA. Mrs. Detling was born on October 14, 1938 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Ernest and Julia Collins Biller. 

She was a member of St. Pius X. Church. Peggy was a passionate RN, employed by Frick Hospital her entire career.  She was a proud volunteer at Good Samaritan Center for several years. Margaret was well known for being “fiercely independent” and called “Mom and Grandmother” by many people. No one was a stranger to Peggy for long, as she had the gift to become a friend to all.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Laurie Deery (Richard), Margaret Butler (Tim Bowen), Elizabeth Detling; her beloved grandchildren, Teresa Chiffons, Amanda Woy, Erin Deery, Thomas Butler, Patrick Deery, James Davis, and Robert, Riley, and Randy Lender; and by her loving great grandchildren, Kaarley and Easton Butler, Kaitlyn and Nathaniel Woy, Tarren, Kelon, Haden, and Bowie Chiffons, and Conner and Owen Lender.  Mrs. Detling is also survived by her sister- in- law, Jean Andrews and many loving friends. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Ronald E. Detling, grandson Justin Swank, brother- in-law Reginald Andrews and many loving relatives and friends.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held on Thursday in the funeral home at 10:30 am followed by Peggy’s funeral mass at 11:00 AM in St. Pius X. Church.  Interment will follow in St. Pius Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Good Samaritan Center in Mount Pleasant in loving memory of Peggy Detling.
