Obituary of Joseph R. Ovitsky
Joseph R. Ovitsky, 93 of Mt. Pleasant went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Harmon House in Mt. Pleasant. He was born on October 25, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Anton and Veronica Twardoski Ovitsky.
Joseph was a graduate of East Huntingdon Township High School, class of 1948. He was a member of the United States Air Force, and he served in the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he worked at PPG in the glass plant factory for over 33 years. Joe was a member of the former Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church and a current member of Transfiguration of our Lord PNCC in Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post 446, Mt. Pleasant VFW Post 3368, Mt. Pleasant Slovak Club, and the Mt. Pleasant Polish Falcons Nest 147.
He is survived by his two daughters and son-in-laws, Jennifer and Michael Barrick, and Jodi and Matthew Gross; his four loving grandchildren, Joseph and Madelynn Barrick, and Aydan and Austyn Gross; his six "furry" grandkids, Lily, Bella, Waylon, Fleury, Ranger, and Roxy; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Judith F. Ovitsky; his siblings, Felix, Pauline, Anthony, Lottie, Michael, Edward, William, Victoria, and Martin; and by his god-daughter, Paula Keefer Torcaso.
Family and friends will be invited on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Transfiguration of our Lord PNCC, 353 Bridgeport Rd., Mt. Pleasant. Interment with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 446 and VFW Post 3368 of Mt. Pleasant will be in Transfiguration Parish Cemetery.
