Obituary of Margaret Jean Maricondia

Margaret Jean Maricondia, 99. of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday July 28, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Maricondia was born May 24, 1924 in Somerset to the late Philip and Anne Racosta Peretti. 

Mrs. Maricondia was a faithful member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church and part of the church kitchen crew.  Jean started as a nurse in the United States Army Nurse Corps. and at Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.  She continued in the healthcare field by taking care of Amanda Blevins, who meant the world her, for over 32 years.  She loved to cook with her family, line dance, work as an instructor at the YMCA with Silver sneakers until the age of 94, and above all else spend time with all of her family. 

Mrs. Maricondia is survived by her loving family, her children, Anthony Tomei (Maggie), William Maricondia (Desiree), Theresa Ciglar (James), Anna Marie Maricondia (Reg Kopcho), and Cecilia Teppert (Roger); eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Frances Harer.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Maricondia in 2004; her siblings, Philip Peretti, Mary Olsen, and Joseph Peretti.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the blessing service at 1:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant.  A Funeral Mass for Jean will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church.  Interment will be in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, The Heart Association, or a charity of one's choice.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver Stacey and Excela Home Care and Hospice for their wonderful care of Jean.  To offer an online condolence please visit our website at www.galone-carusofuneralhome.com
