Obituary of George T. Roadman
George Thomas Roadman, 89, of Norvelt, passed away Thursday June 6, 2024 at Westmoreland Hospital. Mr. Roadman was born June 30, 1934 in Greensburg to the late Harry and Emma Cook Roadman.
George served his country in the United States Army with the 1st battle group as a special 4th class at Fort Devens, MA. He attended Pennsville Baptist Church. George worked for 15 years at ITT Grinnell Corp. in Warren, OH, and retired from Elliott Company in Jeanette. He was an avid woodworker, enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially fishing for native trout with his good friend Walt Houston.
George is survived by his loving family, his daughters, Debbie Shaffer (Jay) of Mt. Pleasant, and Tammy Hoyman (Jess) of Strasburg, PA; his grandchildren, Josh Shaffer (Hannah), Dustin Shaffer (Jamie), Jessica Westgate (Adam), Allison Houck (Seth), and Jenna Hollenbach (Aaron); his great-grandchildren, Arabelle, Colton, Jackson, Asher, Savannah, Greyson, and Scarlett; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Gerrie Allison Roadman in 2021; his daughter, Lori Sue; and his sister, Dorothy Stoner.
Family and friends will received on Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc. 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of his Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Terry V. Murray. Entombment will follow in Middle Presbyterian Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 446 of Mt. Pleasant. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of George T.
