Wendy Maceyko

Obituary of Wendy Jo Maceyko

Wendy Jo Maceyko, 65 Mt. Pleasant, PA

Wendy left this earth on Saturday January 4, 2025 to begin the final leg of her journey home.  She was born in Mt. Pleasant, PA on October 13, 1959, to the late Rudolph W. and Sara J. Mardis Maceyko.

Wendy certainly lived her life just the way she wanted to.  She was the class president for Southmoreland Senior High School class of 1977.  A veteran of the U.S. Navy, she used that time wisely and traveled as much as she could.  Being stationed at NAS Alameda, CA and NAS Bermuda (yes I said “Bermuda”) gave her all opportunities to see sights she wouldn’t have otherwise had the chance.  She drove cross country 5 times.  She loved to drive, whether she had a destination in mind or not.  The unknown destinations were her favorite.

Once out of the Navy, Wendy lived in Oregon for three years and then, after 10 years away from home, she returned home.  Being a corrections officer and Training Sergeant at SCI-Greensburg gave her the opportunity to use her people skills training officers.  She loved that job and gave her heart and soul to it.

“Let me tell you a story….” were words Wendy lived by.  Wendy loved to post things on Facebook.  She didn’t care what it was about, nothing from her life was sacred, if she believed it was Facebook worthy, it was on there.  She loved hearing from people that she hadn’t seen in years, when they would tell her they can’t wait to turn their computers on to see what Wendy was up to today!  She had many Facebook followers, and she made them laugh.  That made her heart smile.

Wendy’s family was the most import thing to her, and she loved them with all her heart.  She was predeceased by her wonderful parents and two brothers who meant the world to her, Rudolph A. Maceyko and Greg E. Maceyko.  She is survived by her sister, Eileen Lisker; her brother, Allan Maceyko (Roberta); her nieces and nephews, Paul Barron (Kristen), Rudolph Maceyko Jr. (Amy), Dustin Maceyko, Tara Maceyko, Missy Maceyko (Eric), Ryan Maceyko, and Tiffany Dykiel (Timothy); and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

In honoring Wendy’s wishes there will be no hours of public visitation or service.  A private inurnment with Military Rites will be held in the spring at Middle Presbyterian Cemetery.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her best friends Kim and Robin Yauger-Stringfellow and Robin Brooks for their wonderful care of Wendy.   All arrangements have been entrusted to Galone-Caruso Funeral Home Inc., Mt. Pleasant.  To leave an online condolence please visit our website at www.galone-carusofuneralhome.com
