Obituary of Robert M. Alfery

Mount Pleasant, Robert M. "Bob" Alfery, age 62 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Monday (12/5/2011) in Excela Heath- Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Alfery was born June 8, 1949 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Fritz and Bertha Pletcher Alfery. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Bob was a 1969 graduate of Hempfield Area High School, and received his Associates Degree in Business from Penn State University. He was the Vice President of the former Alfery Sausage Company, and the owner of the former Corner Laundromat in Mt. Pleasant. Bob was a former member of the Pleasant Valley Country Club and the Mt. Pleasant Rotary Club. He was a true outdoorsman, who loved spending time manicuring his lawn; an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and skier. Bob is survived by his loving family; his wife Colleen McGarrity Alfery, his children; Ben Alfery and his wife Amy of Greensburg, Heather Alfery of Derry, Amanda Metzger of Connellsville, and Bethany Alfery of Ligonier, and his beloved grandchildren, Michael, Jordan and Shana Bosas. He is also survived by his brother and sisters; Michael Alfery and his wife Grace of Youngwood, Lena Eder of N.J., Margaret Altschaffl and her husband Joseph of Greensburg, and Christina Rubal and her husband Robert of Hollsopple. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ann Alfery Haaz in 2000. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 until 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held @9:30AM on Thursday in the funeral home, followed by his 10:00 AM Funeral Service in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko officiating. Interment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A Parish Wake Service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday @3PM.
