Obituary of Dortha Fern Brooks Berg

Mount Pleasant, Dortha Fern Brooks Berg, age 97 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Friday (4/27/2012) in Scottdale Manor & Rehabilitation Center, Scottdale, PA. Mrs. Berg was born March 4, 1915 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Edward and Maude Williams Brooks. She was a longtime member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she and her husband co-founded the adult fellowship of the Church, and where she was its oldest member. Dortha retired from Williamhouse She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, always having them together, especially for the Holidays, and seeing that everyone had a care package of her food to take home. Dortha is survived by her loving family: her children; Richard L. Berg and his wife Marlene of Whitney, Kenneth G. Berg and his wife Tillie of Connellsville, James B. Berg of Hammondville, and Patricia Philbrick and her husband Donald of Conway, NH, Her beloved grandchildren: Tammy Berg, Timothy Berg, James Berg, Barbara Mogerman, Kimberly Philbrick, and Beth Ann Aumer, and her great grandchildren; Audrey Berg, Michael Aumer, Sara Aumer, Grant Mogerman, Cade Mogerman, Blaine Berg, Henry Berg and Annie Berg. She is also survived by her sister, Sarah Nixon of Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dortha was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Berg in 1995, and by her seven brothers and two sisters. Family and friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Mrs. Berg will be held at 11:00 AM in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 822 West Main Street, Mount Pleasant, with her Pastor, the Rev. Karen C. Thompson, officiating. (Everyone is requested to go directly to the church). Interment will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family suggests contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 822 W.
