Obituary of Kenneth M. Kurpiel

Mount Pleasant, Kenneth M. Kurpiel, age 66 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Saturday (05/05/2012) at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Kurpiel was born May 3, 1946 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Ted and Agnes Roguzinski Kurpiel. He was a member of Transfiguration of our Lord Polish National Catholic Church. Ken was a 1964 graduate of the former Hurst High School. He was a proud veteran who served during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force. Ken worked for the former Robertshaw Control Co. as Shipping and Receiving clerk. He was an amazing and loving husband, Dad and Pappy. Ken was a member of the Polish Falcon's Nest, the Slovak Club and the Kosciuszko Club, all of Mt. Pleasant. He courageously fought the great battle, and now is at peace with His Lord. Ken is survived by his beloved family; his wife of 45 years, Mary Beth Hutira Kurpiel, his children; Christine Long of Clearwater, FL, Kathleen Neff and her husband Glen of Cary, NC, Carron Szydlik and her husband Todd of Smithfield, VA, and by his adoring grandchildren; Jacob Long, Anastasia Neff, Jeroen Neff and Anthony Szydlik. Ken is also survived by his brother Daniel Kurpiel and his wife Elaine of Greensburg. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Kurpiel in 1984. In following Ken's wishes there will be no hours of public visitation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11:00AM in the Transfiguration of our Lord Polish National Catholic Church, 363 Bridgeport St., Mt. Pleasant, with the Father Bruce Sleczkowski, as celebrant. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contribution may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Ken's beloved Transfiguration of our Lord Polish National Catholic Church, in Memory of Kenneth Kurpiel.
