Obituary of Donald R. Wanichko

Latrobe, Donald R. Wanichko, age 74 of Latrobe, PA, died Monday (05/28/12) in the Greensburg Care Center. Mr. Wanichko was born May 13, 1938 in Hostetter, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Konkoly Wanichko. He was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church of Latrobe. Don was a 1957 graduate of Latrobe High School. He served proudly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.Prior to his retirement, Don had worked for the Westinghouse Corporation as a High lift Operator. Don is survived by his loving family: his brother,Jerry L. Wanichko and his wife Dorothy of Latrobe, his sisters-in-law; Cheryl Porter and her husband Clarence of Scottdale, and Barbara Haney and her husband Terry of DE, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Gloria Jane Rafacz Wanichko in 2003, and by his three brothers; Joseph Wanichko, Jr., Leonard Wanichko and Eugene Wanichko. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 3 to 8PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 9:30AM followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. A Parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 3PM.
