Obituary of Ira L. Barkley

Mount Pleasant, Ira L. Barkley, age 81 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Monday (3/18/2013) in Excela Health- Frick Hospita,l Mt. Pleasant, PA. Mr. Barkley was born April 21, 1931 in West Overton, the son of the late Elmer and Mary Hough Barkley. He was a member of the Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren. Ira, a veteran of WWII, had been stationed in Germany for three years with the United States Army. He was employed for many years as a tractor trailor driver, and a heavy equipment operator for the Davison Stone Company. Ira is survived by his loving family: his wife, Leona L. Beddick Cope Barkley, his five adopted children, and his loving dog and companion, Lucky. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 3 to 5 & 7 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Ira will be held Wednesday at 1:30 PM in the funeral home, with his Pastor the Rev. Lee Smith officiating. Interment with full military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the St. John's Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township.
