Like mist surrounding a mountain, distant memories are illuminated when dust is brushed away from old photographs. The charming woman in the picture would be my father's sister, so dear to him as to serve as my namesake. I am blessed to have had such a lovely aunt and immeasurably blessed to have had such an loving father. May the peace of God be with you throughout eternity, and may you rest in peace with your dear brother - my dear father- John.

I will miss Aunt Irene, but am comforted that she will be reunited with her family in Heaven. She was a strong woman, filled with love for her family, and a deep faith in God. I remember staying at her house many years ago as a small child, and I remember her visiting me in my own home many years later. She was a wonderful and loving person, and I’m proud to have had her for an aunt. God bless you, Auntie Irene, until we meet again.

Rest in Peace Dear Aunt Irene. May the Angels carry you to your new eternal home in heaven. As the youngest daughter of Sophie, I too have very fond memories of trips to Baba's house in Mt. Pleasant. And even more often than Mary Jo, my favorite past time was exploring Aunt Irene's jewely box! We always felt so special being able to sleep in her beautiful room with the two big beds and curtains in the doorway. My mother instilled in us a deep love and appreciation for our family and our slovak heritage. One of the best ways she and my father did that was to take our family as often as possible to Mount Pleasant. The large family gatherings there and the delicious food, laughter, the singing of slovak songs and the love shared by all of my aunts, uncles and cousins was a huge part of that. Aunt Irene was the most sweet, loving and thoughtful aunt, always making sure we had enough of everything we needed. "Would you like some more Tang, Chrissy?" She always sent us birthday cards as children and they always were signed Love and God Bless you with lots of XXX's and OOO's. She was a strong example of a catholic woman of deep faith to me. Thank you Aunt Irene! Love Always, Chrissy XXX OOO

As a youngster I was awed by Aunt Irene's pretty jewelry, dresses and shoes in her bedroom at Baba's house in Mt Pleasant. I remember the Jemima doll on her bed and her tiny size four shoes! I enjoyed the breakfasts she would make me: dark toast with homemade plum jam, and condensed juice. As an adult, when I began to understand everything that she lived through and stood for, I came to greatly admire her for her independence, courage, patriotism and deep faith. I will miss her so much! Dear Cetka, Thank you for sharing your life with me! May all the Sedlacko family (especially my dear Matka Sophie) , angels and saints guide your way into paradise, safe - at last in your heavenly home. "Love You!" Your niece, Maria Josefinka
