Obituary of Duane H. Nagy

Scottdale, Duane H. Nagy, age 75 of Scottdale, PA, died Tuesday (2/4/14) in the Select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe, PA, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Nagy was born February 19, 1938 in Ruffs Dale, PA, the son of the late E. James and Myrtle Echard Nagy. He was a longtime member of Center Bethel Church of God, where he served as Decon and was very active in the Church Community. He was a graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School, class of 1956, and retired as a truck driver of 50 years. Duane served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion, and the VFW in Scottdale, and also a life member of the East Huntingdon Sportsman's club. Duane was an avid photographer, enjoyed hunting and camping with his sons and grandchildren and listening to bluegrass music. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Duane is survived by his loving family: his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Peterson Nagy, his children; Gregory Alan Nagy and his wife Gloria of RuffsDale, Jeffrey Eric Nagy and his wife Molly of Bedford, and Barry Douglas Nagy and his wife Michelle of Newark, OH, his beloved grandchildren; Amanda S. Nagy, Gregory D. Nagy and April, Bradley A. Nagy, Corissas K. Nagy, and Zachary T. Nagy, and his great grandchildren, Gregory, Austin, Ronda, Raymond and Alexis, Hunter, Connor and Noah. He is also survived by his sister, Gladys Grimm and her husband Wendell of Scottdale. Family and friends will be received Friday from 3 to 5 & 7 to 9 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Additional viewing will be held Saturday from 9:30 until 10:30, the time of his funeral service, in the Center Bethel Church of God in Alverton, with the Reverends Lee Kline and Keith D. Solomon officiating. Interment will be in the Alverton Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Excela-Frick Hospital and the staff of Select Specialty Hospital in Latrobe, and Dr. Mark Williams for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Duane Nagy.
