Obituary of Henry Charles Kline

Mount Pleasant, Henry C. Kline, age 75 of Mount Pleasant, PA, passed into Heaven on March 18, 2014, at Excela Health- Latrobe Hospital. Mr. Kline was born April 29, 1938 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Henry and Helen Wagner Kline. He was a member of the Community Church of Hecla. Henry was a 1956 graduate of the former Hurst High School. He retired from the Westinghouse Industrial Ceramics Division in Derry. Henry was a past member of the Mount Pleasant Salvation Army and a lifetime member of the Hecla Sportsmen Association. Henry grew up in Hecla, and will always be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who spent many years caring for his mother, uncle and his wife's parents and her aunt. He loved "cool jazz", fine dining, and a dry martini-shaken, with an olive. He had a passion for history, especially the Civil War and World War II, always giving thanks to the veterans who sacrificed so much for us. As a railroad buff, a highlight of his life was a trip on the American Orient Express train through the great American west and our national parks. Friends will remember the bike trips to Ohiopyle with lunches at the River's Edge Café, the games of Kerplunk, and his original dance, "The Henry" that made us all laugh. Although his zest for life was cut short, he loved every day given. Good night sweet prince, sleep well. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Shirley Fitch Kline, his sister, Carolyn Palek of Hanover, MD, his sisters-in-law Sue Kline of Lecanto, FL and Betty Fitch Wells of Baden, PA, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Walter "Bob" Kline, and his uncle Walter Wagner. As per Henry's wishes, there will be no hours of public visitation. Private Inurnment and committal service will be held at the Middle Presbyterian Cemetery Mausoleum, with the Rev. Dr. Dale Porterfield officiating. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Box 105, Southwest, PA 15685, in memory of Henry C. Kline.
