Obituary of Leroy P. McCune

Youngwood, Leroy P. McCune, age 87 of Youngwood, PA, died Monday (7/28/14) at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. McCune was born November 8, 1926 in Manor, PA, the son of the late Andrew and Helen Maher McCune. He was a member of the Ambrust Wesleyan Church. Leroy owned McCune Auto Repair and previously had worked for Westmoreland Auto, Chelsted Motors and Ford Motors as a gifted mechanic and service manager. He was an avid reader, a history buff, and had a great appreciation for trains, both big and small. Leroy lived his life as a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, loving his family and friends. He now enjoys his reward in heaven; his joy is complete. He is survived by his family: his loving wife of 62 years, Irene Sullenberger McCune, and will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his surviving children; Brenda McCune Phillips and Kent of Franklin, TN, Sandra J. McCune of Latrobe, Timothy L. McCune and Pam of Youngwood, Pamela McCune Neill and Vaughn of Youngwood, and Loren B. McCune and Jackie of Las Vegas, NV, his eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his brother, Roland L. McCune. Visitation with Leroy's family will be held on Saturday August 16, 2014 from 10:00am until 11:00am, followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the New Stanton United Methodist Church with Pastor Bonnie King officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Inurnment will be private. The family wishes to thank Excela Health Hospice for their care and compassion.
