Obituary of Barbara Dolores Smitley
Hammondville, Barbara Dolores "Do Do" May Smitley, age 84 of Mount Pleasant PA, died Friday (9/12/14) in Uniontown Hospital.
Mrs. Smitley was born November 15, 1929 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Alvie and Frances Kinneer May. Dolores was a member of Paradise United Methodist Church, and a 1947 graduate of the former Ramsay High School. Do Do was a gifted artist sharing her paintings with her family and friends. She helped to establish parents for handicapped recreation. She enjoyed cooking for her family, inviting everyone for Sunday dinner. She enjoyed playing cards, and was an avid steeler fan. Dolores was a loving, mother, wife and devoted grandmother.
She is survived by her loving family, her children: Jack D. Smitley, Jr. and his wife Starr, Jill McCloy and her husband Doug, Jody McCloy and her husband James all of Mt. Pleasant, Jesse Smitley and his wife Linda of Charleroi, Jeffrey Smitley and Jamie Smitley and his wife Missy both of Mt. Pleasant, Twelve Grandchildren and Eleven Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Patricia Snider of VA, Beverly Clayton and her husband Joseph, and Renee Shumar both of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, Do Do was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jack D. Smitley, Sr. in March of 2013, and her sister; Donna Macik.
Family and friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street Mount Pleasant.
