Obituary of Doris D. Cernuto

Mount Pleasant, Doris D. Smith Cernuto, age 91 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Tuesday (09/23/14) at the Amber House in Mount Pleasant, PA. Mrs. Cernuto was born May 29, 1923 in Bridgeport, PA, the daughter of the late George and Mable Wagner Smith. She attended St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Doris was a graduate of the former Hurst High School. She worked for many years for the family business, C & C Lumber Company, as their Bookkeeper. Doris loved caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving family: her children, Terence F. Cernuto and his wife Beverly, and Frank J."Skip" Cernuto, Jr. and his wife Louise, all of Mt. Pleasant, and her beloved grandchildren; Terence F. Cernuto, Jr. and his wife Davida, Kerry A. Cernuto, Michael A. Cernuto, Emily A. Shuster, and her husband A.J., and Jillian M. Corcoran and her husband Joshua. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Cernuto in 2005, her brothers, William, George, and Murl Smith, and by her sister; Ruth Smith Farrell. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 3 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Friday at 9:30AM in the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass 10:00 AM in St. Pius X RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
