Obituary of Richard L. Thornton

Mount Pleasant, Richard L. Thornton, age 61 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died unexpectedly Tuesday (11/18/14) at Excela Health- Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, PA. Mr. Thornton was born May 8, 1953 in McKees Rocks, the son of the late Robert and Grace Krebs Thornton. He was a graduate of Sto-Rox High School. Rich served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was employed by the Wabtec Co. of Greensburg as a Press Operator. Rich enjoyed camping and working in his garden. He was a member of the Shaft Club. Rich is survived by the love of his life for over 29 years, Denise Anderson, his son, Ryan Thornton ,and by his brothers and sisters; Ronnie Thornton, David Thornton and his wife "Babs" and Linda Barrett, all of McKees Rocks, and Robin McBane and her husband Chris of TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his brother Robert Thornton, his brother in law, Leo Barrett, and his sister in law Frannie Thornton. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2 until 8PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Rich will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township.
