Obituary of Dorothy J. O'Toole

Mount Pleasant, Dorothy J. Sapola O'Toole, age 72 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Tuesday (01/27/15) in Mountainview Select Specialty Nursing Home, Greensburg, PA. Mrs. O'Toole was born June 7, 1942 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Paul and Julia Hudzema Sapola. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Dorothy was a 1959 graduate of the former Hurst High School, and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Indiana State Teachers College. Dorothy had been employed as a School Teacher for the Mount Pleasant Area School District, retiring with over 37 years of service. She was a member of PSEA, the Mt. Pleasant Library Book Club, and Hilltop Quilters, and the Old Lady's Quilting Group. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading, collecting antiques and walking to church for daily mass. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her time with her family. Dorothy had a love for life and a determined spirit during her illness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Dorothy is survived by her loving family: her husband of 45 years, Lawrence F. O'Toole, her children: Rosemary J. Nestler and her husband Frank of Champion, Christopher P. O'Toole and his wife Heather of Carlisle, and Patrick T. O'Toole and his wife Becky of Mt. Joy, PA., and her beloved grandchildren, Sophia and Talia Nestler, and Julia and Owen O'Toole. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Halligan and her husband John of Freedom, PA and her sister in law, Betty Sapola of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, William and James Sapola. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 PM and Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant. Interment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 3PM.
