Obituary of Josephine A. Cifone Strednak

Acme, Josephine A. "Josie" Cifone Strednak, age 75 of Acme, PA, died Monday (03/23//15) in Cary, NC. Mrs. Strednak was born November 17, 1939 in North Braddock, PA, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Theresa Bloise Cifone. She was a member of St. Raymond's of the Mountain Roman Catholic Church. Josie had been employed at Westinghouse Atomic Research, PA Glass and Sand Corp. and as secretary for the Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and taking rides in the country. Josie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who was especially proud of her family and their accomplishments. Josie is survived by her loving family: her husband of 53 years, Raymond R. Strednak, her sons; Raymond J. (Sharon) Strednak of Montomery Village, MD, and Scott G. (Kathy) Strednak of Apex, NC, her daughters; Lisa (Mark) Levinson of Winchester, VA, and Christina (Christopher) DeFlitch of Hummelstown, PA, and her eight grandchildren; Rochelle, Scott, Jr., Nicholas, Carter, Rachel, Christopher, Owen and Sophie. She is also survived by her two sisters, Madeline Aiello and Shirley (Edward) McCarron, and by her two brothers, John Cifone and Benjamin (Marie) Cifone. In addition to her parents, Josie was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis, William and Anthony Cifone. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant, PA. Josie's funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday 3/27/2015 at 12:00-noon at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 310 32nd Street, McKeesport, PA 15312 with the Rev. Vincent Velas as celebrant. (Everyone is asked to please meet at the church) Interment will be in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Braddock. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Monyough Catholic School, 1640 Faucett Avenue, White Oak, PA 15131, in memory of Josie Strednak.
