Obituary of Phyllis Dolores Palanko Hudec

Mount Pleasant, Phyllis Dolores Palanko Hudec, age 79 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Friday (05/29/15) in Excela Health- Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant, PA. Mrs. Hudec was born August 17, 1935 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Farkosh Palanko. She was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, and its Rosary Altar Society and Christian Mothers. Phyllis was a 1953 graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School. She was a member of the Assunta Club. Phyllis was employed for many years in the school cafeteria of Visitation School until her retirement, and then worked for Kraisingers Market. Phyllis enjoyed watching the Steelers, playing Texas Holdum, and watching Jeopardy and the Wheel of Fortune. She loved caring for her family, cooking and baking for them every Sunday. Phyllis will always be remembered for her smile and keen sense of humor. She is survived by her loving family: her children; Edwin Dean Hudec, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Robert E. "Bob" Hudec and Lisa of Scottdale, Rebecca Overly and Jay of Mt. Pleasant, and Anna Marie Hudec and Glenn Gold of Latrobe, her beloved grandchildren, Beth and Chris Modlin, Deanie and Jenna Hudec, Jason and Emily Overly, Tiffani and Ken Michel, Nikki and Sean Sisler, Joseph Long and Jessica Gold, and by her great grandchildren; Hunter, Tyler, Jacob, Kolby, Dylan, Kaden, Alexa, Makenzie, Devin, Mia, and Brycen. Phyllis is also survived by her brother and sister, Joseph Palanko and Irene of Mt. Pleasant, and Martha Marcinko of North Carolina. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin "Peachie" Hudec in 2004, her son, William J. Hudec in 1996, and by her brothers and sister, Frank, Mark, and James Palanko and Kathryn Baluh. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 6 to 8 PM and Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30AM followed by Phyllis's Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will be in the Visitation Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. A parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 3PM and the Visitation Rosary Altar Society will pray the rosary immediately following.
