Obituary of Randall Clair Hamel

Mount Pleasant, Randall Clair "Randy" Hamel, age 71 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died unexpectedly Tuesday (2/16/16) at his home. Mr. Hamel was born December 14, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late John and Dorothy Gressman Hamel. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God. Randy was a 1962 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School and attended Otterbein College in Westerville, OH. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Randy worked as computer programmer for most of his life and was active in assisting the senior citizens centers with their computer repairs and updates. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 446, and Sounded Taps during the Military Funerals. Randy was a gifted photographer. He had recently compiled a book of cemeteries, offering the exact GPS Coordinates, and geographic locations for local funeral homes to use. Randy is survived by his cousins: Wendy A. Gressman, Marilyn Newcomer and Linda A. Hensel (Fred), all of Greensburg,Karen S. Stapchuck (Martin), Cheswick, Judi Mason (Jim), Donna Hennessy and Fred Hoke (Francie), all of Mount Pleasant, Kenneth Hoke (Dara), Dawson,PA, Joann Scheidemantle, Daytona Beach, FL, Dennis Scheidemantle, Levittown, PA, Goodwin Honse (Betty), Roanoke, VA, and Mary Lu Salmon, Chapel Hill, NC , and by his many friends. Family and friends will be received Saturday from 1 until 4 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant, PA. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home at 3:45PM by the American Legion Post 446 Honor Guard, followed by his funeral service at 4:00PM with the Rev. John Owen, officiating. Private Interment will be in the Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.
