Obituary of Robert William Hostoffer

Robert W. "Lefty" Hostoffer, age 87 of Mayfield Village, OH, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home. Mr. Hostoffer was born May 17, 1929 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Bridget Blaszkowski Hostoffer. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus Council # 03334. Bob was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Corporal in the United States Army. "Lefty" was the owner of the former Brush and Hostoffer Appliance Store in Mt. Pleasant for more than 50 years. He was a life member of the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Assistant Chief for many years. Bob was an avid fisherman, a golfer and an all-around "handyman". Bob is survived by his loving family: his wife of 65 years, Alice S. Fiedor Hostoffer, his sons, Dr. Robert W. Hostoffer, Jr. and his wife Karen of Highland Heights, OH and David M. Hostoffer and his wife Annette of Pittsburgh, and by his beloved grandchildren, Br. Alexander Hostoffer, SN Vincent Hostoffer, USCG, and his wife Sara Ann, Nicholas Hostoffer; PFC Sarah Hostoffer, USA, and Zachary Hostoffer. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceeded in death by his brothers; Joseph, John "Jack", Raymond, and Frank Hostoffer, and by his sisters, Gertrude Brasco, and Margaret Shutty. Family and friends will be received Saturday from 9:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Bob will be held immediately following at Noon in the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko officiating. Interment with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 446 will be in the Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. The Transfiguration Holy Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 11:15 AM in the funeral home and the Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department will meet at 10AM also in the funeral home.
