Obituary of Richard Edward Beran

Richard Edward Beran, 73, of Scottdale, died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.

Mr. Beran was born July 20, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Edward A. Beran and his wife Lorraine and Ann Yanniello Beran Skapura and her husband Joseph. Rick attended the former Ramsay High School. He had been employed most of his life as a mechanic, working at the former Volkswagen plant in New Stanton and the L.E. Smith Glass Co. He was also the owner of R & M Recon of Scottdale. Rick was a very avid runner in the marathon races in our area and enjoyed being in good physical condition. He was also a sports car enthusiast who always had his Dodge Demon at car shows. His most enjoyable times, however, were those spent with his family. Rick is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marlene Zipnock Beran; his daughters, Darlene Beran Fulmer and Diane Beran Franzino, both of Greensburg; and by his beloved grandchildren, Sarah Beran, Julianna Franzino, Brianna Franzino and Nicholas Franzino. 

Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
