Obituary of Margaret Stepansky
There was a celebration in Heaven on August 1, 2018 when Peggy (Margaret) Stepansky arrived through the gates. Peggy was born on May 30, 1942, the daughter of the late Gib and Barb Fiesta Zaronsky and the wife of Tom Stepansky for 57 years. She was raised in Mount Pleasant on Howard St., also known as Dutchtown. Therefore, she and her friends were known as the Dutchtown girls. Peggy graduated from Ramsay high school and went on to become a cosmetologist. On May 13, 1961, she married Tom and had 2 daughters, Denise and Dianna. She had a small beauty shop in her home for many years. Later, she went to the University of Pittsburgh and received a Master’s degree in education and worked at Central Westmoreland Vocational Technology School as a cosmetology instructor. She loved that job, her coworkers and students. Peggy’s number one hobby was shopping! She never met a mall she didn’t like. It didn’t matter whether she was shopping for purses, shoes, jewelry, clothes or groceries, just as long as it was shopping. She loved to cook, bake and was always trying something new. Peggy was most famous for her spaghetti sauce and meatballs, stuffed pepper soup, angel food rolls, and Pizzelles’s. She loved the holidays and preparing the feasts. Peggy was also the tour director of her annual bus trips to Wildwood and Atlantic City, making sure every detail was perfect because she would always say, “I love my bus people.” She also traveled to Hawaii, New York, Vegas, France, Italy and loved going to Lancaster. One of Peggy’s pride and joys were her two granddaughters, Ashlee and Kaylee. She loved baking with them when they were little, shopping with them as they got older, taking them to Disney World, and visiting them at college. She was always on the go, but she also loved to relax at home reading on the porch or watching the Pirate games with her husband, Tom. Her favorite player was Polanco. Peggy was a member of Visitation Church in Mount Pleasant and it’s Christian Mothers. She also loved to participate in church events and festivals. She looked forward to her frequent lunches with members of her graduating class from high school and her monthly breakfasts with her fellow retirees from vo-tech. In addition to her husband, Tom, she is survived by her daughter, Denise and husband Lee, granddaughters Ashlee and Kaylee, sister-in-laws, Cel (Henry) Lewandowski and Leona Bilik, nieces and nephews, Henry Joe Lewandowski and Melinda Lewandowski and family, Andrea (Tim) Grindle, Billy Bilik and family, Leanne (Greg) Phillips and family, Bobby Bilik, Cindy (Ed) DePrins and family.
Peggy always said how lucky she was to have her life long friends, who she referred to as her sisters and their wonderful husbands, Kathy and Ray Janesko, Isabel and John Brodak, and Patty and Bob Croke. Peggy was preceded in death by her daughter Dianna and her beloved dog, Mick. Nothing made Peggy happier than spending time with her family and friends, and to Peggy, all of her friends were family. Always remember, when she told you she loved you, she meant it and felt it throughout her whole heart.
Family and friends will be received Saturday from 6 to 8 PM and Sunday from 2 until 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant.
A Blessing service will be held Monday at 9:30AM at the funeral home followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, Mount Pleasant, with the Rev Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant.
