Obituary of Ormond Cyrus Long

Ormond Cyrus Long, age 76 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Monday (1/28/2019) at Excela Health- Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, PA.

 

Mr. Long was born August 31, 1942 in New Stanton, PA, the son of the late Ormond and Eleanor Leasure Long.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam Era. Ormond was employed as a Cabinet Maker for the former Plastics Unlimited and Peterson Custom Kitchens. He was  a member of the American Legion Post 446. Ormond was very artistic, was a gifted painter as well as an expert carpenter. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and planting his garden, sharing his crops with his family and friends  and manicuring his lawn.  

 

He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 49 years, Therese Muzydla Long,  his sons; Ormond J. Long of Connellsville, G. Steven Long of Rockwood, and James A. Long and Wendy of New Centerville and his granddaughter, Lea C. Long, and fiancée Zachary Carver. He is also survived by his brothers and sister;  David Long, Kenneth Long, Daniel Long and  Joyce Long. In addition to his parents, Ormond was preceded in death by his great grandson, Eliot Carver in July 2018 and by his brothers, Gerald and Thomas Long.

 

Family and friends will be received  Thursday from 4 until 8 PM  at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home,  204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant.  Funeral Services will be held  Friday at 1:00 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Greg Butler officiating.
