Obituary of Dorothy M. Kalp
Dorothy M. (Wicks) Kalp, age 98 of Mount Pleasant, PA, died Wednesday, (7/17/2019) at her home.
Mrs. Kalp was born February 7, 1921 in Sayville, Long Island, NY, the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Kirby Wicks. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant. Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Sayville High School and of the Central Islip State Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse and had been employed as an Operating Room Nurse Supervisor for Connellsville Hospital from where she retired with over 40 years of service. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her loving family: her children; Robert D. Kalp, Jr. and his wife Andrea of Greensburg and Renee M. Hollis and her husband Paul of Albuquerque, NM, her beloved grandchildren; Bobbi Jo Kalp Sanders, Jarrette (Renee) Kalp, Jaci (James) Garlick, Dale (Donna) Zeglin and Leo (Elizabeth) Zeglin and by her great grandchildren; Mackenzie Kubinec, Morgan Kubinec, Andrew John Sanders, Jackson Kalp, Chloe Kalp, Dale “Casey” Zeglin, Salem Zeglin and Zachary Zeglin. Dorothy is also survived by her brother and sister in law, Charles and Dorothy Kalp of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Kalp, Jan. 6, 2004 and by her sister, Julia Hawes.
Family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant.
Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with her Pastor, the Rev Robert V. Ellson officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Joy Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Dorothy’s caregivers; Bonnie Crossland, Liz Wetzel, Dawne Kalp, Juanita Shumar, Missy Kenney and Tabitha Piovesan for the exceptional care and compassion they had provided to her.
