Obituary of Alice S. Hostoffer

Alice S. Hostoffer, age 92, of Ohio formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died January 31, 2021 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Hostoffer was born August 7, 1928, in Mt. Pleasant to the late Maciej and Frances Szuba Fiedor. Mrs. Hostoffer was a graduate of Hurst High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Alice went on to work for many years as a registered nurse at Mt. Pleasant Hospital, the office nurse for Dr. Depriest and Dr. Barber, and a nurse at Harmon House. She was a member of Transfiguration Church Parish, a member of Transfiguration Holy Rosary Society, and served as a Cantor for many masses. Alice was a Cub Scout Den Mother, she loved to make quilts, and she made the world's best pierogies. Mrs. Hostoffer is survived by her loving sons, Dr. Robert W. Hostoffer Jr. and his wife Karen of Highland Heights, OH, and David Hostoffer and his wife Annette of Pittsburgh. Her loving grandchildren, Br. Alex Hostoffer, Vincent Hostoffer and his wife Sarah-Anne, Nicholas Hostoffer, Sarah Green and her husband Isaac, and Zachary Hostoffer and his wife Katie; her beloved great-grandchildren, Viola Hostoffer and Ivy Rose Green; and by her brother, Frank (Dolores) Fiedor. In addition to her parents; Mrs. Hostoffer was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. "Lefty" Hostoffer; and by her brothers and sisters, Stanley and Joseph Fiedor, Victoria Ogrodny, Angeline Zelenak, Sophia Shutty, Sister Bernice Fiedor, and Sister Euphrasia Szuba. Family and friends will be received from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM Saturday at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A prayer service will follow at 11:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by Alice's Funeral Mass 12:00 PM at St. Pius X RC Church, Mt. Pleasant.
