Obituary of Leon R. Mowry

Acme, Leon R. Mowry, age 82 of Acme, PA, died Thursday, (2/11/2021) at UPMC-East, Monroeville, PA. Mr. Mowry was born April 18, 1938 in Bullskin Township, PA, the son of the late Samuel and Mildred Tinkey Mowry. He was a member of St. Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Church in Greensburg. Leon was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School and received his degree from California University of PA. He was employed as an Industrial Arts Teacher by the Southmoreland School District prior to his retirement. Leon was a member of Marion Lodge #562, F & AM and the Bullskin Lyons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving family: his daughter, Renee (Todd) Caruso, his son, Leon (Christy) Mowry, by his beloved grandchildren; Christina White (Adam), Jennifer Stouffer (Cedric), Scott Mowry, Samara Mowry, Leon Mowry, III, and Laura Caruso and by his great grandchildren, Abigail Stouffer, Liam Mowry, Adalyn Stouffer and Bryson and Hunter White, In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Saloom Mowry in 2017, and by his brothers and sister, Harold and Gerald Mowry and Nancy Zebley. Family and friends will be received Monday from 2 to 8 PM at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home , 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Leon will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM in St. Michael's Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1182 Ashland Street, Greensburg, PA, with the Rt. Rev John Nosal officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Following Covid-19 Guidelines, only 30 people are permitted in the Funeral Home at one time. CDC Guidelines for Social Distancing will be followed and face masks are required in the Funeral Home and in Church. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we maintain occupancy limits.
