Obituary of C. Paul Baird

C. Paul Baird, age 82, of Mount Pleasant passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Baird was born April 24, 1939 in Mount Pleasant. He is the son of the late Clair P. and Florence (Huffman) Baird Sr. Paul was a graduate of Hurst High School class of 1957 and he proudly served in the Army National Guard Co. E. He was a member of Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren. Paul was a life member of Hecla Sportsmen’s Club and BPOE #868 of which he also served as Past State Secretary. Prior to retirement, he was employed by L.E. Smith Glass for 40 years. A loving husband, devoted father, and grandfather who was always quick with a joke. He made those around him smile always. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years: Kathleen (Mullen) Baird, his children; Gretchen Baird, Paul Baird III (Melissa), Rachael Secosky (Jeff) and Jennifer Lape (Joe), his grandchildren; Brayden (Adam), Breanna, Evan (Katelyn), Brendan, Cameron, Tyler (Isabelle), Nicholas, Ryan, Mary Kate, Ella, and Avery. He is also survived by his sister Brenda Fisher (Don) and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received Saturday June 26th from 6 to 8 PM and Sunday from 2 to 8 PM at Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Monday in Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren with his Pastor the Rev. Lee Smith officiating. Everyone is asked to please meet at church. Entombment with military rites will be accorded by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion will follow in Middle Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to: the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of C.
