I'm glad that I was able to provide care and comfort during Louis's finale days. He was always very kind and appreciative. He would be so happy to see me in the morning and at the end of every shift he'd ask when was I coming back, as if he was holding his breath until then. It made me proud of the job that I was doing. I will miss watching cooking shows with him and because of him I FINALLY watched the movie Dirty Dancing. RIP

And Now We Say Goodbye
Great sadness fills our hearts today
as pipes and drums, in slow march play.
A comrade’s fallen by the way,
And now we say goodbye.
This hero to the very end
Was more than just a casual friend,
Who would a stranger’s life defend,
And now we say goodbye
But we shall cherish, all our days,
The character this life portrayed
With sacrifice so freely made,
And now we say goodbye.
The hand salute, o’er Stars and Stripes,
And distant skirl of highland pipes,
Give last farewell with hero’s rights,
And now we say goodbye.
While here on Earth, you gave your best.
Now in the Master’s arms you rest.
T’is by your memory we are blessed.
And now we say goodbye.

Lou was an amazing man and friend who will be missed dearly. He was the kind of guy you wanted to be around who loved to laugh and enjoyed telling you why his Steelers were the best football franchise ever. I have many fond memories with Lou but most importantly, I owe him a debt of gratitude as I would not have the career I do today without his taking a chance on me. I, like many others, were blessed to have known Lou and will cherish the memories of him forever. Rest easy brother!

What a great photo of your Dad you've posted on this site. That smile is how I will remember Lou. He definitely had a quick wit and boy was he great at his job. He knew exactly what he was doing and was always able to find a receipt when I had exhausted all other efforts. He reminded me a lot of my father who was a little gruff on the outside but had a heart of gold on the inside. I think he would have done anything for his family, friends and coworkers. I will be thinking of all of you during these coming days leading up to his service and especially during the days ahead when the quietness begins. Your father was a good man. Blessings to you.

I first met Lou after a deployment to Iraq and I was stuck in a lousy job with a really bad boss. My friend Walt Luker was close to Lou and Walt knew I was miserable in my current job. We met at a resturant for lunch and my job interview was literally us BSing and then him asking me, "so, how much $ are you looking for?" I told him, and his response was "yeah, we can do that! you'll have an offer letter in a week" It was truly remarkable. Especially for someone with a phobia of doing job interviews. Usually, new people come into ASOC and then they're snatched up by the teams withing a year at the most. I spent the next 3 and half years in ASOC with him. We went out for beers together, we talked sports together, we golfed together. He was there for me when I went through my divorce. He was an amazing friend I'll miss him desperately. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Very Sorry to hear of the passing of Lou. I worked with Lou and always enjoyed his stories and knowledge. He was quick witted and made the long workday enjoyable. He was very fond of his longtime coworker Scott and he spoke often of his children and was extremely proud of them. I hope his friends and family can find comfort in this difficult time.

Lou has been a dear friend to our family since the mid 90's. He checked in on my family during my deployments to Qatar and Iraq; always at the right time when they needed to hear from someone. His humor and whit will forever echo on in my daughters lives from knowing "Uncle Lou".
I weep with the Michalsky family yet rejoice and celebrate his life with all that knew him.
God speed Lou!

Lou was a blessed person to have in my and my husbands life. We met when I moved in as his neighbor. When I was going through a divorce he was there to be a great friend and listener. I will miss walking down the hall and spending time with him. I know in my heart he is in a better place but he will be missed here on earth. Lou you will always be in our thoughts. We will love you always.
