Obituary of Alice M. Gaia

Greensburg, Alice Mientus Gaia, age 86 of Greensburg PA, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday (11/1/2010) in the Jeannette Hospice at Jeanette Hospital. Mrs. Gaia was born April 12, 1924 in Mount Pleasant, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Teofila Chlebek Mientus. . She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral of Greensburg. Alice was a graduate of the former Ramsay High School. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her loving family: her sons; Lawrence Gaia and his wife Paulette of Chesterland, OH, and their children, Jonathan, Ashley & Jeremy, David Gaia and his wife Heidi of Greensburg, and their children, Lauren and Michael; and James Gaia and his wife Jennifer, of Fort Mill, SC, and their daughter, Sarah Nunn. Alice is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert M. Gaia of Pasedena, MD, and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband John in 2002, her daughter Susan Gaia in 1951, and by her brothers and sisters; Andrew, Joseph, Stanley, John Frank ,Frances, Mary, Teofila, Antoinette and Rosalia Mientus. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9pm at the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, 204 Eagle Street, Mount Pleasant. Funeral Services for Mrs. Gaia will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. John B. Simpson officiating. Interment will be in the St Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
